In de volksmond ook wel ‘daa keirk' genoemd. Wanneer in 1217 de parochie van Sint-Nicolaas gesticht wordt, bouwt men op deze plek de eerste kerk. Ze is dan ook de oudste van de stad en bovendien de decanale kerk. Ze werd vernoemd naar Sint-Nicolaas van Myra, de patroonheilige van de handelaars. De kerk overleefde de Beeldenstorm in 1566 en een zware brand in 1690. Let vooral op de mooie glasramen langs binnen en langs buiten.
Vergeet ook niet de kerkschat in de crypte te bezoeken.
De kerk is elke voormiddag publiek toegankelijk.
Tip: Geniet op donderdagochtend om 10 uur van de gratis orgelconcerten in de kerk.
