Deze holle weg is één van de laatste bestaande in het Brussels Gewest. Hij dankt zijn holle vorm aan de oude en herhaalde passage van mensen, evenals aan het afstromen van regenwater. Met zijn taluds bedekt met vegetatie, is dit pad een toevluchtsoord voor veel dieren, zoals zoogdieren wiens holen op bepaalde plaatsen te zien zijn. Hij dient ook als een ecologische corridor waardoor ze van de ene groene ruimte naar de andere kunnen gaan.
