Aanvankelijk stond op deze plaats het Hof ter Walle. De bouw van het huidige neorenaissance kasteel startte in 1854 en duurde tot 1859. Het kasteel werd gebouw in opdracht van baron Polydore Piers de Raveschoot-Surmont de Volsberghe. Vier van zijn zes zonen werden later burgemeester van Olsene. Het domein is momenteel in particulier bezit en enkel per uitzondering te bezichtigen. Sinds 1995 is het kasteel erkend als monument. Tijdens de dag van de landbouw, iedere derde zondag van september organiseert de gemeente Zulte samen met lokale producenten een Boerenmarkt.
