Het Archeopark: 1000 jaar geschiedenis opnieuw tot leven
De abdij van Ename gaat terug op een burcht… Rond 974 was Ename, langs een bocht in de Schelde, de uitverkoren plaats om een grenspost op te trekken tussen het Franse en het Duitse rijk. Die keizerlijke burcht werd verwoest en in 1063 werd er de Sint-Salvatorabdij gesticht. Tot de Franse revolutie bruiste het in en rond de abdij van bedrijvigheid.
Vandaag de dag kan je het 8 ha grote Archeopark bezoeken. Onderzoekers brachten de geschiedenis van de abdij weer tot leven met een ‘Tijdsvenster’. Virtueel, wel te verstaan.
