Hill 60 is een authentiek gebied uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog. De kunstmatige heuvel uit 1850 lag op zo’n 60 meter hoogte. In de periode 14-18 werd hier hevig gevochten tussen de Duitsers en de Geallieerden, met wisselend succes. Beide groeven vanaf 1915 tunnels onder de heuvel waarin mijnen tot ontploffing werden gebracht. De explosie van de dieptemijnen op 7 juni 1917, zorgde voor het huidige landschap van Hill 60. Heel wat soldaten liggen nog steeds onder deze heuvel begraven.
