Niebüll is een stad in de Kreis Noord-Friesland in de Duitse deelstaat Sleeswijk-Holstein met ca. 9800 inwoners . Hoewel de in polders gelegen plaats al in 1436 genoemd wordt, bleef zij lange tijd meer dorp dan stad. Pas met de opkomst van het toerisme op het eiland Sylt ontwikkelde Niebüll zich na 1927, mede dankzij het spoorwegstation, tot een regionaal centrum. Sylt is over de Hindenburgdam namelijk alleen bereikbaar per spoor. Wel rijden er vanaf Niebüll dagelijks speciale autotreinen naar het eiland.
