Klooster Seligenthal werd in 1231 als Franciscanerklooster opgericht door graaf Heinrich von Sayn en zijn vrouw Mechthild von Landsberg in Seligenthal, tegenwoordig een stadsdeel van Siegburg. De kloosterkerk werd in de Rijnlandse overgangs stijl gebouwd. In 1803 werd het klooster van de minorieten in het kader van de secularisatie opgeheven. Sinds 2019 hebben eremieten van "onze Lieve Vrouw van de Berg Karmel" zich gevestigd.
