Behalve de toegepaste kunst aan de Hochschule is er de beroemde Kunstakademie, waar grote namen als Gerhard Richter en Sigmar Polke studeerden. “De Kunstakademie is een van de belangrijkste dingen in de stad. Twee keer per jaar stelt de academie het werk van haar studenten tentoon en dat is telkens weer de place to be. Je moet al op een weekdag gaan kijken, want in het weekend raak je praktisch niet binnen. Iedereen is in die weken bezig met oordelen en bediscussiëren of het een goed jaar was of niet.
