De Hansa-Realschule werd in 1951 in Soest opgericht, als onderhuurder in het toenmalige gymnasium aan de Hohen Weg. De leiding van de gemeentelijke Realschule voor jongens en meisjes werd overgedragen aan Heinrich Jühe, die op 1 april 1953 tot rector werd benoemd. In 1962 werd de opdracht voor de bouw van de nieuwe Hansa-Realschule door de stad Soest aan K. H. Beyerling gegeven. De eerste paal werd in 1963 geslagen. Na een bouwperiode van twee jaar kon de school op 15 oktober 1965 het nieuwe gebouw betrekken. Toen werden de leerlingen op geslacht gescheiden, daarom zijn er ook een oost- en een westdeel.
