Berliner Bürgerbräu was tot haar sluiting in 2010 de oudste brouwerij van de stad. Het markante brouwerijgebouw bevindt zich aan de Müggelsee in het district Köpenick. Het merk bestaat voort en behoort tegenwoordig tot de Radeberger Gruppe.
Sinds 1753 zijn er op de locatie van de brouwerij ten noorden van de Müggelsee "Krugrechten" vastgelegd. Met de ontwikkeling van de gebieden aan de kust door koning Friedrich II werd het goed Friedrichshagen samen met de bijbehorende infrastructuur gebouwd. Vanaf 1852 werden de gronden van het koninklijke goed geprivatiseerd. In 1869 kocht Hermann Schaefer de restanten van het goed inclusief de bijbehorende brouw- en maalrechten. Deze datum wordt als het oprichtingsjaar van de brouwerij beschouwd.
