Klein Schauen ligt aan de L391 tussen Philadelphia en Görsdorf b. Storkow nabij het Grunewaldsee. Aan de rand van het dorp stroomt de Mühlenfließ, die de grens met het deelgebied Busch markeert en in het Wolziger See uitmondt.
Het als rond dorp aangelegde plaats werd grotendeels bewoond door boeren, waarvan de hoeven zich rondom een landgoed groepeerden. Tot halverwege de vorige eeuw werd het landgoed als kwekerij en boomkwekerij gebruikt. In de nabijheid van de toenmalige landgoed bevindt zich vandaag het dorpsgemeentehuis. Het oudste gebouw van het dorp is een woonhuis van veldstenen, waarvan de leeftijd op 150 jaar geschat wordt.
