Het station Magdeburg-Buckau ligt aan de spoorlijnen Magdeburg–Leipzig en Magdeburg–Thale in de Magdeburger wijk Buckau. De afbuigende lijn Biederitz–Magdeburg-Buckau is niet meer in gebruik en is afgebroken. Ten noorden van het station is er een verbindingsbocht naar de spoorlijn Braunschweig–Magdeburg.
Het huidige stationsgebouw werd gebouwd van 1926 tot 1928 en verving een voorganger die ongeveer 200 meter zuidelijker stond. Het is een bakstenen gebouw met een schilddak, de ingang vormt een vier-assige risaliet met een halfronde luifel. Het behoorde destijds tot de modernste stationsgebouwen van Duitsland en staat vandaag de dag onder monumentenzorg.
