St. Georg is de rooms-katholieke parochie- en proostkerk van de stad Wassenberg in de gemeente Heinsberg.
Omstreeks 1118 werd in Wassenberg een nieuwe kerk gebouwd, die op 30 september 1118 door de Luikse bisschop Otbert van Luik werd ingewijd. De nieuwbouw van het godshuis hing samen met de benoeming tot parochiekerk en de stichting van het kapittel. Deze romaanse zaalkerk werd na 1250 uitgebreid met twee zijbeuken tot een driebeukige pijlerbasiliek. Rond 1420 werd de nog steeds bestaande drie verdiepingen tellende toren in gotische bouwstijl aan het kerkgebouw toegevoegd. In 1802 werd het in 1118 gestichte kapittel van Wassenberg door de Fransen ontbonden.
