De Schönbornse Aue is een in de 19e eeuw doelbewust verlandd binnen eiland in de Rijn. Het maakt deel uit van een reeks eilanden die in de Rijn tussen Mainz en Bingen liggen. Op de Aue bevinden zich een volkstuintjesgebied en landbouwgrond. Sinds begin 2013 zijn plannen uitgevoerd om in het kader van hernatuurswerkzaamheden de voormalige Altrheinarm uit te baggeren, om de Aue weer van het vasteland te scheiden. Deze werkzaamheden werden in november 2015 met succes afgerond.
