Kernactiviteit is de productie van verpakkingsmachines, voornamelijk voor de tabaksindustrie, maar ook voor andere sectoren zoals bijvoorbeeld Kellogg's of Pampers. In de sigarettenverpakking is Focke met het bedrijf G.D als concurrent leidend.
Het familiebedrijf werd in 1955 opgericht door Heinz Focke in Bremen. Nadat in de jaren vijftig een uitbreiding in Bremen niet meer mogelijk was, verhuisde het bedrijf in 1961 naar Verden, waar het hoofdkantoor nog steeds is gevestigd. Ook na de dood van de oprichter van het bedrijf in 2003 wordt het bedrijf door de nakomelingen, de broers en zussen Jürgen en Doris Focke, als familiebedrijf voortgezet.
