Het gebied strekt zich uit ten zuidwesten van de kernstad Paderborn en ten oosten van Wewer, een zuidwestelijke wijk van Paderborn. Aan de oostelijke rand van het gebied ligt de A 33, westelijk de provinciale weg L 756 en oostelijk de L 755. De Lohne stroomt door het gebied. Westelijk en in het noordwestelijke deel stroomt de Alme, een linkse zijrivier van de Lippe, door het gebied. Direct ten zuiden ligt het ongeveer 2,8 ha grote natuurreservaat Ziegenberg op het grondgebied van de gemeente Borchen in de provincie Paderborn. Beide natuurreservaten samen komen ongeveer overeen met het FFH-gebied Ziegenberg.
