De circa 1792 m hoge Fuenfría-pas / Puerto de La Fuenfría overschrijdt de Sierra de Guadarrama. In vroegere tijden verbond hij de Romeinse steden Segobriga en Titulcia en daarmee de vruchtbare hoogvlakten van Oud- en Nieuw-Castilië; vandaag de dag is de grindweg afgesloten voor normale personenauto's en kan hij alleen nog als wandel- of fietspad worden gebruikt; in de winter zijn er vaak sneeuwblokkades.
