De Plaza de San Juan de Dios is al eeuwenlang een zeer unieke en geliefd plein, dat dienst deed als Plaza Mayor en zeer dicht bij een van de stadspoorten (de huidige Arco del Pópulo) ligt.
Tijdens een wandeling door de Plaza de San Juan de Dios vallen verschillende interessante gebouwen op, zoals de kerk van San Juan de Dios , die toebehoorde aan het oude Misericordia-ziekenhuis. Hier werd in de 16e eeuw ook het stadhuis gebouwd. Heel merkwaardig is ook het Casa de los Pazos Miranda , met zijn roze gevel.
Op het plein staat ook een standbeeld dat is opgedragen aan Moret, een bekende politicus uit Cádiz. De palmbomen en fonteinen geven het plein een heel speciaal tintje.
