In opdracht van Napoleon I om de triomf van zijn legers in de Slag bij Austerlitz te vieren, werd tussen 1806 en 1836 de grootste boog ter wereld gebouwd. Sinds 1921 herbergt het het graf van de Onbekende Soldaat, waarvan de herdenkingsvlam elke avond opnieuw wordt ontstoken. Het panoramische uitzicht op de hoofdstad vanaf het dakterras is adembenemend.
