Het kasteel van Pagax ligt in de voormalige provincie Rouergue en op de grens van het nabijgelegen Quercy. Het domineert de vallei van de Lot vanuit de hoogten van het dorp Flagnac in Aveyron. De architectuur is typisch voor de fortificaties van de 12e en 13e eeuw, met een hoofdgebouw in vierkante plattegrond dat op drie verdiepingen boven een blinde begane grond is opgebouwd, geflankeerd door vier massieve hoektorens die met kantelen zijn verbonden.
