De kathedraal, een juweeltje van de stad dat als Historisch Monument is geclassificeerd, is sinds de 5e eeuw het ontmoetingspunt voor de bevolking. De huidige kathedraal, gebouwd vanaf 1230 op de resten van eerdere monumenten, heeft, met aanzienlijke verwoestingen, twee grote cataclysmen ondergaan: de godsdienstoorlogen en de revolutie van 1789 die diepe sporen nalieten. De kathedraal is sinds 1998 geclassificeerd als werelderfgoed van UNESCO onder de Wegen van Santiago de Compostella. Tuin van het Hoofdstuk met archeologische opgravingen.
