Het werd gesticht in de 5e eeuw. Het werd herbouwd tussen de 12e en 15e eeuw en biedt een panorama van architectuur, variërend van Romaans tot flamboyant gotisch. De schilderijen en oude beeldhouwwerken binnen zijn net zo bewonderenswaardig als de glas-in-loodramen in het koor, het werk van Laurent-Charles Maréchal, de grote Messiniaanse glas-in-loodmeester.
