Het Cour d'Or Museum ontleent zijn naam aan het paleis van de koningen van Austrasië dat ooit in Metz stond. De Gallo-Romeinse archeologische collectie is een van de grootste in Frankrijk, met oude thermale baden die in situ bewaard zijn gebleven, de Merten zuil, een altaar voor Mithras, etc. Een doolhof van zalen en gangen leidt van de 15e-eeuwse graanschuur van Chèvremont naar de 13e-eeuwse plafonds van Le Voué en het koor van St-Pierre-aux-Nonnains, waarvan bekend is dat het een van de mooiste collecties Merovingische beeldhouwkunst in Europa bevat (7e eeuw). In de galerie voor Schone Kunsten zijn werken te zien van Monsù Desiderio (17e eeuw) en de Ecole de Metz (19e eeuw).
Vijf rondleidingen in gemakkelijk te lezen en te begrijpen taal (FALC). Boekjes gratis beschikbaar voor bezoekers.
