De aquatische Maginotlijn is de bijzonderheid van ons grondgebied in termen van militaire torens. De meest stroomopwaarts gelegen vijvers van Hoste hadden de bijzonderheid dat zij zowel als reservoir en als hindernis werden gebruikt. De vijver van Hoste-Bas is nog steeds de enige die is uitgerust met een hevelsysteem. De nabijheid van het verdedigingsblokhuis van de dijk en een restant van de voormalige militaire begraafplaats uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog maken Hoste tot een unieke en niet te missen locatie.
