Het Observatorium van Mérelle heeft een panoramisch uitzicht van 360 graden.
Tijdens een wandeling op de hoogten van Gérardmer in juli 1964 bevonden de verkenners zich op de hoogten van de site, met uitzicht op het meer van Gérardmer.
Een project was toen geboren: de bouw van deze prachtige houten uitkijktoren met 85 wenteltrappen die een spectaculair uitzicht biedt met op de voorgrond het meer van Gérardmer en op de achtergrond het skigebied van Gérardmer Stations en de Route des Crêtes.
