De kerk werd gebouwd in de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw (vanaf 1855) door de architect Henri Bach voor de Jezuïeten. Het is neogotisch van stijl, beschilderd en rijkelijk versierd, met gebrandschilderde ramen van L. V Gesta. Het orgel, gebouwd in 1864 en geklasseerd als historisch monument in 1972, is een meesterwerk van de beroemde orgelbouwer Cavaillé-Coll. Kenners zullen de 24 registers verdeeld over twee manuele klavieren en een pedaalbord waarderen. De kerk is gesloten voor het publiek, behalve voor evenementen die er plaatsvinden.
