Perthes les Brienne, gelegen in het hart van de vlakte van Brienne en op de route van de Romeinse weg Troyes-Montier en der, is niet altijd bekend geweest onder deze naam. Documenten uit 1632 verwijzen naar het dorp als Perthes en Rothière tot 1919. In de Middeleeuwen behoorde de heerlijkheid Perthes toe aan de abdij van Boulancourt in de gemeente Longeville sur la Laines in de Haute-Marne. Vandaag de dag staat Perthes bekend om de productie van kool voor zuurkool. Uit het verleden is de 16e-eeuwse vakwerkkerk Saint-Denis overgebleven. Er zijn ook fragmenten van 16e-eeuwse gebrandschilderde ramen te zien. Bevolking: 49 (Bron INSEE-PSDC 1999) Oppervlakte: 363 hectare Hoogte: 125 meter
