Dit gebied, gelegen in Barjac, Balsièges, Cultures en Esclanèdes, maakt deel uit van een complex van kliffen en waterlopen dat behoort tot de vallei van de Lot en dat bijzonder gunstig is voor verschillende vleermuispopulaties. De aanwezigheid van een mozaïek van bocagemilieus, een combinatie van natuurlijke weiden, gecultiveerde percelen, boomgaarden, weilanden, oeverbossen, heggen, bossen en holtes in de kliffen, vormt een gunstige biotoop voor vele soorten vleermuizen.
Het is een van de belangrijkste overwinteringsplaatsen voor de Grote Rhinolophus.
