Het kasteel van la Villette werd in de tweede helft van de 16e eeuw herbouwd na de schade die het leger van Karel V in 1552 aanrichtte, en kardinaal Mazarin verbleef er in 1651 tijdens de Fronde. Na te hebben behoord tot het hertogdom Rethel en vervolgens tot Marguerite de Belaux, werd het kasteel in 1767 eigendom van Jean-Franis Maucomble, adviseur en secretaris van de koning en heer van Glaire.Gelegen aan de oevers van de Maas, werd dit Renaissance verdedigingskasteel in de loop der tijd omgevormd tot een château de plaisance met Franse tuinen.Het kasteel van Villette en zijn tuinen zijn opgenomen in de aanvullende inventaris van historische monumenten.
