Deze monoliet, met een diameter van 1 meter, is naar schatting 45 miljoen jaar oud. Volgens een legende uit 1124 werd hij uit de hemel neergeworpen als teken van goddelijk onheil toen de dorpelingen de verschuldigde tienden aan de abdij van Longeville-lès-Saint-Avold niet betaalden. Een meteoriet? De meest waarschijnlijke verklaring is dat deze monoliet, die uniek is in de streek, hier werd afgezet door de machtige rivieren die uit de Vogezen stroomden toen de zeeën zich in de prehistorie terugtrokken. Hij werd in 1965 op een sokkel geplaatst en bevindt zich nu rechts van de trap die naar de kerk leidt.
