Deze diepe kloven, op de noordwestelijke hellingen van de Mont-Lozère, werden uitgeslepen door de Bramont, waarvan het water gedeeltelijk ondergronds is. De hellingen worden ingenomen door beboste vegetatie op basis van grove den en eik.
Langs de oevers van de beek, waar de Europese otter leeft, is er een oevervegetatie van essen, populieren, wilgen en elzen, kenmerkend voor de waterkant.
Op de kliffen nestelt de Velduil, waarvan de populatie in Lozère op 20 tot 30 paren wordt geschat.
De bossen zijn geschikt voor de slangenarend, waarvan Lozère tussen 120 en 190 paren telt.
