Het werd gebouwd in de 19e eeuw en verving een oude ruïne die deel uitmaakte van het Château de La Mot. Het maakt nu deel uit van het dorp La Vernède. Het werd herbouwd dankzij donaties van de inwoners van de dorpen La Vernède en Serre. Het kijkt uit over het Etang de Sagne Jurade en wordt tijdens de zomermaanden soms gebruikt als tentoonstellingsruimte.
In bepaalde periodes van het jaar zijn er ook binnenbezoeken mogelijk. Neem contact op met het gemeentehuis voor meer informatie.
De kapel van Clavaire staat op de route van de Grande Randonnée 41: Vallée du Cher.
