De zusters Annonciade, aanwezig in Langres van 1623 tot 1984, waren toegewijd aan goddelijke contemplatie. Naast de geloften van kuisheid, armoede en gehoorzaamheid, legden ze strikte afzondering en totale terugtrekking uit de wereld op. Aanvankelijk gevestigd in een nabijgelegen woning, kocht de congregatie in 1624 het huis van Jean Girault, heer van Croy. Dit stuk grond, dat door opeenvolgende aankopen werd uitgebreid, stelde de congregatie in staat om in 1684 een nieuwe, grotere kapel te bouwen. Het klooster zelf werd in 1704 herbouwd. De soberheid van het geheel weerspiegelt ongetwijfeld de soberheid en zelfverloochening van de zusters Annonciade.
