De eerste kerk werd gebouwd in de 11e eeuw, op een plek waar al sinds de 4e eeuw een christelijke gebedsplaats stond.
De kerk was gewijd aan Sint Michael, de aartsengel die de christenen beschermde. De huidige kerk werd gebouwd in de 12e eeuw, in romaanse stijl. Ze bestaat uit een schip, een dwarsschip en een koor.
In 1863 kwam abt Auguste Cazin op het idee om de Saint-Michel kerk te bouwen op grond die hij had gekocht. De eerste steen werd gelegd in augustus 1867, volgens de plannen van Bouloch, een architect uit Boulogne. De kerk werd gezegend op 29 september 1868 en ingewijd op 17 augustus 1876. Op Witte Donderdag 1892 vernielde een brand het meubilair en beschadigde de kerk. De Hesdense architect Clovis Normand hield toezicht op de restauratiewerkzaamheden. Het nieuwe gebouw werd op 16 oktober 1892 ingezegend. De klokkentoren werd in 1955 gebouwd naar plannen van de Boulonnais architect Dujardin.
