De Sint-Remigiuskerk is gelegen aan de Rue de l'Église in Charleville-Mézières, in het departement Ardennen. Een eerste project van Gautiez in neo-gotische stijl, aanvankelijk goedgekeurd door de commissie van algemene inspecteurs in 1856, werd uiteindelijk afgewezen. Het is in de jaren 1860 dat de Sint-Remigiuskerk werd gebouwd, naar plannen van de diocesane architect Jean François Racine, op de plaats van de oude kapel van de grote priorij van de christelijke militie, opgericht door Charles de Gonzague en zijn echtgenote. Het gebouw, in neo-romanistische stijl, werd in 1863 voltooid.
