Ze ligt naast de Nevern, een kleine rivier die naar het noorden naar de Newport Bay stroomt en de landtong Dinas Island plaatst, die wordt ontsloten door het Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Twee kilometer ten oosten ligt de portal tomb Carreg Coetan Arthur en iets verder ligt het Berry Hill Fort. Historische beschrijvingen spreken van een aantal menhirs die rondom de site stonden.
Cerrig y Gof bestaat uit vijf ringvormig gerangschikte enkelkamers. Deze vorm van meerdere kamers is uniek voor Pembrokeshire. Het enige tegenhanger heeft Cerrig y Gof in de site van Mull Hill op het Isle of Man, waar zes kamers in een cirkel zijn gerangschikt.
