Via di Mezzo is een centraal plein in het oude centrum van Barga.
In 1870 opende de familie Capretz een café onder de 16de-eeuwse loggia van de kooplui voor het stadhuis. In die tijd werd het café de ontmoetingsplaats van de aristocratie en het intellectuele leven van Barga.
Het huidige Cafè Capretz ontvangt u niet alleen in zijn grote binnen- en buitenruimten, maar ook op zijn kleine terras dat een uniek uitzicht over Barga biedt. Op het terras is een epigraaf gedicteerd door de dichter Giovanni Pascoli.
