Het eerste natuurschoon dat u op de route tegenkomt is het Spoolderbos. Dit unieke stukje natuur is in 1980 ter gelegenheid van het 750-jarig bestaan van Zwolle aangelegd. Aan de andere zijde van de Willemsvaart, ligt de Spoolderberg. Ver voordat Zwolle in 1798 hoofdstad van Overijssel werd, hielden de Overijsselse edelen hier hun landdagen en sprak de Utrechtse bisschop recht.
