The first natural beauty you encounter on the route is the Spoolderbos. This unique piece of nature was created in 1980 to celebrate the 750th anniversary of Zwolle. On the other side of the Willemsvaart lies the Spoolderberg. Long before Zwolle became the capital of Overijssel in 1798, the noblemen of Overijssel held their parliaments here and the bishop of Utrecht administered justice.
