In 1892 werd aan het Kwerenpad het eerste badhuis in Alkmaar geopend. Het pand is jarenlang bezocht door velen die thuis geen badvoorziening hadden. Het badhuis werd gebouwd in de periode waarin de eerste villa's in het Emmakwartier werden voorzien van een eigen badkamer met badkuip. In het badhuis kende men uiteraard verschillende bezoektijden voor dames en heren!
Dit badhuis is ontworpen door stadsbouwmeester, G. Looman, in de toentertijd landelijk geliefde neorenaissance stijl.
