De Laak is een water in Azewijn, een kerkdorp in de gemeente Montferland . Aangenomen wordt dat het een restant betreft van een van de zijtakken van de Rijn, die hier vroeger heeft gelopen. De Laak is bekend doordat hier in 1605 de heks Mechteld ten Ham in het water is gegooid, om te laten bewijzen dat ze een heks was. Ze bleef drijven op haar wijde rokken, hetgeen als bewijs gold. Vervolgens is ze op de brandstapel gezet te 's-Heerenberg.
