Met Groningens Ontzet of het Gronings Ontzet wordt gevierd dat de provincie Groningen en niet alleen Groningen in het rampjaar 1672 het beleg door Bernhard von Galen, bisschop van Münster had doorstaan.Op 17 augustus van dat jaar , en na een beleg van amper een maand gaf de bisschop zijn troepen opdracht zich terug te trekken.
