Op de hoge zuil zitten vijf figuren. De vrijheidsfiguur rijst uit boven de figuren van burgers en soldaten en symbolen voor Geloof, Gerechtigheid, Hoop en Liefde.
Steen zal blijven getuigen van eerbied voor de helden van de Airborne onder leiding van Generaal Roy Urquhart, die hier streden voor onze vrijheid.
In 2011 werd ter gelegenheid van de 65e Airborne wandeltocht een monument Soldaat met Bloemenmeisje onthuld.
Elk jaar vindt op de eerste zaterdag van september een eendaagse wandeling plaats, de grootste in zijn soort in heel Europa
