Een lange brede zandweg tussen de heide: een idyllisch plaatje. Deze Oude Postweg bestond al in de late Middeleeuwen. Het is niet moeilijk voor te stellen hoe de Hamburger Postkoets uit Naarden hier door het landschap reed. Tussen 1664 en 1828 vervoerde deze personen, vracht en post van Duitsland via Amersfoort en Naarden, en met de trekschuit verder naar Amsterdam.
