Het strand van IJburg is een groot stadsstrand inclusief enkele strandtenten. Ten oosten van het strand zijn enkele zeer bloemrijke velden op zandrijke bodem. Het gebied, Strandeiland genoemd, zal vanaf 2022 bebouwd worden. Het strand zal deels blijven, maar de bloemrijke velden zullen verdwijnen.
