Dit monument met metalen gedenkplaat staat op de plaats waar het fort Frederik Hendrik versterkt werd met een kustbatterij van 4 kanonnen als onderdeel van de Antlantikwall in de tweede wereldoorlog.
Onder de naam Stützpunkt Hendrik stond deze batterij in voor de verdediging van de monding van de Schelde. In 1954 zijn alle werken opgeruimd en werd de zeedijk versterkt.
