De Sophiapolder is een waar vogelparadijs. Duizenden vogels komen naar dit gebied. Broedvogels die hier ieder jaar terugkeren zijn onder andere de kokmeeuw, zwartkopmeeuw, kluut, kleine plevier, grutto en geoorde fuut. Maar niet alleen vogels floreren in het gebied. De Sophiapolder telt meer dan 200 plantensoorten. Het barst hier van de biodiversiteit. De Sophiapolder is niet vrij toegankelijk. Maar het is prachtig te overzien vanaf de Isabelladijk. Tegenover de belangrijkste vogeleilanden is een uitkijkvlonder gemaakt om het te overzien.
