Alvaiázere is een Portugese parish van de gemeente Alvaiázere, met een oppervlakte van 32,32 km² en 1.818 inwoners. Dichtheid: 56,3 inw/km².
Alvaiázere, stad en gemeente, ontleent zijn naam aan de Arabieren. In feite, toen ze het Iberisch schiereiland binnenvielen in het jaar 711, veroverden ze het territorium van het huidige Alvaiázere, dat ze Al-Bai-Zir of Alva-Varze noemden, volgens verschillende meningen. Anderen koppelen de naam van de stad aan de term Al-Baiaz, wat "de valkenier" betekent, waardoor Alvaiázere oorspronkelijk "de gronden van de valkenier" zou zijn geweest.
