Alvaiázere è una freguesia portoghese del comune di Alvaiázere, con una superficie di 32,32 km² e 1.818 abitanti. Densità: 56,3 ab/km².
Alvaiázere, villaggio e comune, deve il suo nome agli arabi. Infatti, quando invasero la penisola iberica nell'anno 711 si impadronirono del territorio dell'attuale Alvaiázere, che battezzarono come Al-Bai-Zir o Alva-Varze, secondo diverse opinioni. Altri collegano il nome del villaggio al termine Al-Baiaz, che significa "il falconiere", per cui Alvaiázere sarebbe stato originariamente "le terre del falconiere".
