The mythical cirque de Gavarnie has been listed by UNESCO since 1997 for its natural and cultural values, which, alongside the lesser-known but equally impressive and beautiful Estaubé and Troumouse, constitutes remarkable natural heritage, undoubtedly the best examples in the Pyrenees.
Cirque de Gavarnie, cradle of Pyreneism, revered by romantics, rises to 3,248 m (at the Pic du Marboré), its waterfall (the highest in Europe) is the most famous.
